Wat Phra Phutthabat (ThaiวัดพระพุทธบาทRTGS: Wat Phra Phutthabat) is a Buddhist temple in SaraburiThailand. It is among the oldest Buddhist temples in Thailand. The full name of the temple is Wat Phra Phutthabat Ratchaworamahaviharn, which means "the temple of great Buddha’s footprint", because it contains a natural depression believed to be the a footprint of the Buddha.

Phra Phutthabat temple was built in 1624 (B.E. 2168) by King Songtham of Ayutthaya, after a hunter named Pram Bun found a large depression in the stone, resembling a huge footprint, near Suwan Banpot Hill or Satchaphanthakhiri Hill. The hunter reported his find to the king, who ordered workers to build a temporary mondop to cover the footprint; this later became the temple.

The Bunnoowaat sutra tells of the flight of the Buddha to the peak of Mount Suwanbanphot, and of how he left his footprints.  It is believed there are five footprints of the Buddha in different places including Phra Phutthabat temple. Some believe that worshipping the footprints, sprinkling water or placing gold leaf on them will lead to the forgiveness of sin, success in life or eternal happiness

In the monastery, there are about 100 monks ("Phra";  dark brown robe) and 20 nuns ("Chee"; white dress).

The monks and the nuns have built all the buildings, streets  and monuments within the monastery, themselves.

They eat their only meal of the day at 7 a.m.

There is a "chanting" (melodic recitation of sacred  texts) every day at 6.30 p.m.

One of the main activities in the monastery is the world-famous  drug detoxification of patients.

According to the monks' practice, the inhabitants of the monastery  undertake a pilgrimage by foot every year, which is called a  "tudong". This event takes place in the month of April.  During that period the monastery is closed.
